AOL Account Hacked

Yes, I've got an AOL account that I've had for ages. It's not my only email address but it's been my primary, stubbornly, because I've lived in many different places over the years and I like having one form of contact that's constant through all of that ruckus.

That said, AOL got hacked recently. And I was part of that lucky 1% affected by this.

If you know me, you may have received a spoofed email in the past week that was clearly a hacked/spoofed email. Apologies and I hope you could tell it wasn't personal.

The incident inspired me to root through my saved address book and weed out old/dead email addresses. Old work addresses, from companies that don't exist and/or people who've moved on. Old acquaintances I shouldn't need to contact in the future. It was kinda funny, kinda bittersweet recalling some of the contacts. Some people I haven't had any interactions with in quite a long time. I just imagine some of them receiving an email from me out of the blue, with dread.

AOL really needs to get their shit together. They're a corporate dinosaur that has somehow managed to avoid extinction despite not keeping up with the times.

Night for Day

I could use about 8 more hours of night.

The sweet spot is about 2am to 5am. Traffic dies down, streets are emptier, people are sleeping. Most people are sleeping. That's when this city achieves a level of darkness and quiet that allows me to think clearer. That allows me to write with fewer distractions.

You'd think I could do more if I moved to some place like Alaska or something but I need the days here. It's not that I don't get anything from the daylight hours. I just wish, sometimes, the daylight hours were reduced significantly.
